Juvenes Translatores
Five Czech students from the eleventh class had the opportunity to take part in a translation competition for Sekundarstufe II. This competition is sponsored by the European Union as the “Juvenes Translatores.”
The students report that on November 26th at 10:00, they received their task: to translate a page of text from one of the 24 European Union's languages to another. As such, there were 552 combinations from which to choose. They picked to translate from German to Czech.
We met in the school library of our Gymnasium and made T-Shirts. Under the supervision of Frau Pokorná, we attempted to create as exact a translation as possible from the posts in the discussion forum within the time limit. Our goal was clear: a weekend trip to Brussels. And if we don't win, the important thing is that we participated!
