Does the spark of inspiration lead to concrete knowledge?
The 24th annual lecture series “Experimentation in Freiberg” took place at TU Bergakademie from September 1st to the 4th. Matyáš Přibyl and Sandra Herzig, from the 12th grade at our Gymnasium, were in attendance.
On September 15th 2015, we, the Czech students of class 10/3, met with the Finnish sculptor Taru Mäntynen as part of our “Sculpture Summer in Pirna” project.
We, class 10/3, took part in an act of civil courage as part of our required “contact hours.” We renewed the small crosses around Pirna, which memorialize the victims of the Holocaust.
On Monday, the 16th of November, some 60 listeners had the chance to take a special, musical break. The Geffen, or “Grapevine,” Ensemble from Northern Israel enchanted the school with the songs of David Zehavi.
On Saturday, the 12th of September, we arrived in Prague at 3:00 PM, where our Czech exchange students were already expecting us. From then on, every student had their own individual schedule with their host family until Monday morning.
Five Czech students from the eleventh class had the opportunity to take part in a translation competition for Sekundarstufe II. This competition is sponsored by the European Union as the “Juvenes Translatores.”
At the beginning of the schoolyear 2015, the French speaking ninth-graders went on a visit to our partner school in Morteau. After 13 hours on a coach, we were warmly welcomed by our host families.
As part of the ethics lessons, Mr Wittmann from the Police Headquarters in Dresden visited us (grade 7/1) on November 6, 2015. He informed us about social networks, instant messaging and copyright laws. Mr Wittmann made sure the lesson was interesting and easy to follow.
Grade 9/3 visited the Bundestag and the Czech Ambessy in Berlin on November 30, 2015.
Students from our school successfully took part in the Pirna swimming competition of ‘Youth Training for the Olympics‘ on November 30, 2015.
