It's Christmas again
Christmas Concert & Christmas market at FSG
»Guten Abend, schön Abend es weihnachtet schon. Nun singt es und klingt es so lieblich und fein. Wir singen die fröhliche Weihnachtszeit ein.«
This was the famous Christmas song, with which the performers welcomed parents and guests to this year’s Christmas concert at Schiller Gymnasium. This song was the opener for two hours of ‘sweet and lovely’ music. The repertoire was very attractive and diverse.
In the first half of the concert, classical music and traditional Christmas songs were presented that gave the audience the feeling that it was Christmas time again. The gospelsong ‘Heaven is a wonderful place’ as well as ‘Let it be’ were other impressive performances. There was also a lovely presentation of the soundtrack to ‘Frozen’.
The following break allowed time for a stroll across the school’s Christmas market where lots of busy helpers offered tasty delicacies and beautiful handmade Christmas decorations. This showed one more time the many-sidedness of our school. There was something for everybody in the seasonally decorated stalls.
In the second half of the program the performers presented music from different epochs, from Baroque to contemporary style. A highlight was Tilman Kranz’ original composition ‘Sein oder Nichtsein’ giving the concert an additional philosophical and satirical aspect. At the end of a successful evening, the performers said goodbye to their audience with fantastic choral music wishing them a Merry Christmas.
