This year’s open house day ended with the premiere of the theater play “Stingy Barka”. The theater group under the direction of Klára Czastková and Constanze Huber successfully performed a very special experiment.
On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, the preview of the photo competition “Winter magic - Kouzlo zimy” took place in the Ute-Georgi-Hall of the boarding house. Selma Zschornack, Teodor Pazderka and the school choir under the direction of Dr. Sperfeld und Dr. Salvet were in charge of the musical and literary accompaniment.
My Participation in the District Round
The district round of the German Olympiad took place in Usti nad Labem on February 25, 2016. Dr. Vrabel, my classmate Josef and I started from the boarding house at 5:30 AM. I was nervous and tired at the same time.
The Czech Club was successful. We performed in two schools: Diesterweg and Lessing elementary. We had practiced hard and it was worth all the effort.
A crew from Schillergymnasium took part in the dragon boat race on June 18, 2016 again. Like in 2015, the boat’s name was “Schiller’s Titanic”. Although the team had only practiced once before the race, they were able to reach the small final where they gave everything again and came in second. All in all, they finished on sixth place.
The day of the German-Czech encounter for elementary students at FSG has been a tradition since 1998 and has always been organized with great commitment and creativity. Students, teachers and the third-graders from local schools were invited to visit our school on June 21, 2016.

Once again, this schoolyear started with the welcoming of the new students from the Czech Republic in the gardens of the Brücke Most Foundation - this year for the 19th time.
House of Fashion - Hraničář Gallery
On June 22, 2016 we visited the Hraničář Gallery in Ústí nad Labem with grades 10/3 and 7/3. The exhibition dealt with the topic of Fast Fashion, a phenomenon that impacts the environment and puts pressure on the social situation in the manufacturing countries of the so-called ‘Third World’.
The best 14 students from the binational classes have been awarded with a trip to Prague.
On September 1, 2016 we together with some German and Czech students from different binational classes accepted an invitation by the Czech consulate general in Dresden and took part in a study trip to Prague.
On October 21, 2016 a six-hour masterclass on particle physics took place for senior students from the course ‘Physics in English’.
The second Saxon Slawiniad took place on June 10 and 11, 2016. Ms. Pazderova accompanied five students of former grade 9/5 to Holzhau, where they took part in the meeting which was attended by students from eight different Saxon schools.
An Encounter with Minorities
International and intercultural encounters have always been an issue at our school. Receiving the delegation of the regional Domowina-Association Bautzen on September 16, 2016 was just another example of what our school life is about.

Our grades 9/3 and 9/4 paid a visit to Lessing’s birthplace as part of their German lessons. After a train ride to Kamenz we split into two groups.
9. Regionales Sprachenseminar
Vom 07.11.2016 bis zum 09.11.2016 fand das 9. Regionale Sprachseminar in Dresden statt. 30 sprachbegabte Schülerinnen und Schüler und 5 Lehrer trafen in der Brücke-Most-Stiftung zusammen ....
Between October 21 and December 15, 2016, grades 8/2 and 8/4 were working at the project ‘Christmas in a shoebox’.
As part of the interdisciplinary lessons in year 10, the students split into thematic groups that all dealt with different aspects of bionics. In order to get a deeper understanding of, for example, swarm intelligence, the lotus effect, fin-ray and lightweight constructions, the students went to Dresden.
The students from grades 10/1 through 10/5 were given the task to make a collage on the subject of bionics as part of the interdisciplinary lessons. They were supposed to create a human-like being with elements of nature and technology.
