Study trip to Prague
The best 14 students from the binational classes have been awarded with a trip to Prague.
On September 1, 2016 we together with some German and Czech students from different binational classes accepted an invitation by the Czech consulate general in Dresden and took part in a study trip to Prague. As in the previous years, the best students from the German-Czech educational background were to be awarded with this prize. Our group of 14 students was accompanied by our principal Mr. Wenzel, Mr. Křenek and Ms. Šťastná.
At 7:45 on Thursday morning, we got on a coach and started our trip in perfect sunshine and midsummer temperatures. Having arrived in Prague, we were welcomed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Dr. Jiří Kuděla, consul general of the Czech Republic in Dresden. First we had the chance to visit the historically valuable rooms oft Czernin Palace. Then we followed Mr. Kuděla on the traditional Royal Way, which led us from Hradčany Castle to the Lesser Town, Charles Bridge and the Old Town all the way to the old town hall of Prague’s Jewish quarter. His interesting stories enabled us to understand and appreciate Prague’s history. We had lunch in the Jewish Community House and after that we went on a guided tour with Mr. Putík, who showed us the Maisel and the Pinkas Synagogues and the old Jewish Cemetery giving us an authentic insight into Prague’s Jewish culture. The tour of the city impressed us very much and touched us on an emotional level.
Before returning to Pirna we were able to spend an hour of free time in the old town where we bought postcards and ice-cream and enjoyed Prague’s warm summer breeze.
When we were back on the coach to Pirna we felt very much enriched by the numerous experiences and impressions of the day. We would like to thank the Czech consulate general in Dresden for the preparation of this trip. A special thanks goes to Mr. Kuděla for his personal commitment and his guided tour through Prague.
